Gourmet food producers, Julie and Geoff Webb, have been making the highly awarded Marinated Baby Figs and Dukkah products under the Far Meadow Lodge label in Berry for some 14 years.
Truly passionate about good food, they took over South Coast Providores earlier this year because they felt Berry needed a business that combined the use of as much local produce as possible to produce seasonal artisan conserves, chutneys and condiments, and not to forget delicious take home food.
These gourmet products are made sourcing as many local ingredients as possible. Thus their South Coast Providores range constantly changes depending on the seasons when local fruit and vegetables are available.
“We are absolutely delighted that all the citrus in our marmalades has come from within 5km of the shop from friends and homeowners with excess produce,” Julie said. “Every food product we sell has been made in our modest shop kitchen. Our products are handmade with love and with the assistance of three Thermomixes.”
The delightful and ever-changing odours emanating from the kitchen attract many of their customers through the doors!
When asked what are some of her favourite specialty products in the store – the list was long!
“Our Marinated Baby Figs which are incredibly versatile and our Beetroot and Red Wine Relish are two favourites. In the marmalades we make the highly regarded Seville Orange Marmalade and our Caramelised Pomegranate Balsamic Glaze is another favourite,” Julie said.
Julie and Geoff have been local residents for more than 15 years and love Berry’s wonderful community that combines both a rural lifestyle with easy access to the marvellous Seven Mile Beach, only minutes away.
Julie believes that their passion drives the business and provides customers with a personal experience unique to the business.
“What I love most about the store is the interaction with customers and being able to introduce them to food products which contain nothing your grandmother would not recognise,” Julie said.
South Coast Providores is located at 89 Queen Street in Berry and is open from Thursday to Monday from 10am to 5pm.
