Paulina and Cliff Collier opened the doors to their gorgeous Berry Tea Shop back in 2010 – and have since been serving up some of the most delicious tea and scones you’ll ever taste!
Former cafe owners from Sydney, the move to Berry was for a much-needed change of pace and to fulfil their vision of creating – a lovely English-style tea shop and to lead the rediscovery of sitting down to a “proper cup of tea” (preferably with a nice bit of cake!).
This divine shop is dedicated to “all things tea” and oozes old-English charm amid the fine china and teapots, cups and handmade cozies where you’ll also find a colourful display of gorgeous teawares and accessories to buy.
With a mantra of – there’s always time for tea! – Paulina says that the teas and teawares are sourced from all around the world, but they also stock a lot of Australian-made pottery, cards and accessories as well.
“Our teas are all hand-blended and packed in store every week. We currently have around 40 teas in our range but we are working on a few exciting new blends which will be released before Christmas,” Pauline said.
And according to Paulina, it’s no surprise to discover that the best selling item in the shop is the scones with jam and cream. “Some people travel a long way for them! ”
“I love the fact that it brings people joy and a sense of nostalgia when they visit our store,” Paulina said.
“We constantly hear lots of “wows” and that makes us happy. We have tried to create a beautiful, inviting space with a few cute touches here and there to make people smile. Most of our customers say it’s like going to their Nan’s house and that’s the exact feeling we have tried to create,” she said.
Paulina’s favourite items in the shop are the beautiful Wedgewood and Royal Albert cups and saucers.
“I would love to have the whole collection at home but at least I can look at them everyday,” Paulina said. “My favourite teapot is the London Pottery filter teapot, which we use for tea service in the shop. It’s such a good little pourer and it doesn’t drip, which is very important!”
And what does she love the most about Berry?
“The rolling green hills, the people and of course, the wonderful sense of ‘communi-tea’,” she said.
The Berry Tea Shop is located at Shop 1/66 Albert Street, Berry.
Paulina will be hosting a short Tea Tasting Session for Luxe South Coast on our Berry trip which will be followed by a fun ‘Mad Hatters Tea Party’.
